About the Event

WOMEN IN MUSIC SHOWCASE

Wow. You don't want to miss this.

REBECCA PORTER https://linktr.ee/rebeccaportermusic

Rebecca Porter's brand of country music is heartfelt and honest. A voice that cuts through the smoke and odors of the divey-est bar in town, soaring with listeners to the highest of highs and singing them through the lowest of lows. In 2021, Porter premiered a highly anticipated showcase of all original music and recorded her debut EP with River Wash Recording in Richmond, VA.

February 2022, Porter independently released her debut EP - Prime Rainbow Conditions - with rave reviews. In an interview with Adobe & Teardrops, Rachel Cholst described, "Porter’s new song 'Prime Rainbow Conditions' channels classic country perfection with swooning guitars and the clear, brilliant tone of Porter’s voice documenting the early weeks of lockdown." Within the first weeks of release, "Prime Rainbow Conditions" was featured by several playlist curators including Music Mecca's "Back Country Bangers" and "Top 25", The Women of Country's weekly curations "New Music Friday" and "Top Ten Tuesday", and was voted to be a part of music distributor DistroKid's "DistroKid Country" playlist.

Most recently, The Women of Country exclusively premiered the music video for Porter’s ballad “Shadow of Doubt”. Porter’s music and vocal talents are compared to the likes of Valerie June, Kelsey Waldon, and Bonnie Raitt.

DROPPING JULIA https://www.droppingjulia.com/

Born in the 90’s into the bustling, gritty state of New Jersey, Jules set out as a teen, carrying the nostalgia of home from coast to coast, from wild seashores to eccentric towns, and across the pond to the dimly lit cities and countryside of Europe. Bearing her guitar, she bashfully strummed and honestly sang the poems from inside her journal - scribbled down in cafes in the East Village, beatnik cooperatives in California, farms in Western Ireland.

Her adventures, experiences and serendipitous connections bled their way into books full of songs that candidly express female struggles, sorrow, inner battles, nightmares, loss, troublesome love, crowded and anonymous subway trains, the restless twilight of a sleepless night, longing for that mysterious human connection, and the search for magic. Her songs are topped off with her whimsical yet sultry vocals, passionately and poetically expressing her unique perspective on life

EDY BLU https://soundcloud.com/edyblu

An enchanting singer and poetic songwriter, Edy Blu's soulful music flirts with jazz, pop, blues and folk. Edy's mixed race heritage and Virginia upbringing give her a unique perspective as she writes about everything from relationships to revolution. A country girl with an urban edge, Edy is an adventurer at heart and has called multiple cities and countries her home. Although a world traveler, she relocated back to Virginia in 2020 to reconnect with her roots.

Her energizing live performances are one of a kind and have garnered fans around the globe. In May 2016, she released her debut EP, Heart Opener, a catchy, danceable pop-soul project, recorded in Barcelona, Spain. An accomplished songwriter, her music has been featured in TV, radio, movies, and commercials all over the world.

Edy believes in the healing power of music and its ability to shift culture and perspectives. Her most recent single, ‘All the Beautiful Girls’, is featured at the Shangri-La Museum of Hawaii in conjunction with the Muslim Futures Exhibit for it’s perspective on a just and free America. 'Wild & Free', her newest album is set to release on October 23, 2020. It is a 5 song EP centered around women's empowerment and living life untethered by society's expectations.
