ARTIST STATEMENT Over the past year, I have spent a lot of time thinking about time and memory. I have been feeling a great bittersweet sense of wonder about all of the things I have experienced, places I have lived, and people I have met. I feel like a collector, hoarding so many precious memories that they have become neglected and are beginning to fade. Some have been pushed under the bed. Some are in dusty boxes on the top shelves of closets in homes where I no longer live. Memories have accrued so quickly that I never managed to label them or place them in their proper place. And now, I fear, it will be nearly impossible to find them again.

I created this retrospective as a way to look back over the past 12 years. I wanted to take a moment to pause and reflect on how my work has changed and how it has stayed the same over time. My most personal work continues to explore our human connection to each other and to our natural world. I have remained curious and excited about the complexity of nature and the ways humans find themselves in conflict and connection to the environment.

As an artist, I consider my main job to be a mirror on my self and society. I want to honestly reflect the beautiful connections and painful tensions that I observe.
