ARTIST STATEMENT Screen Doors tend to be flimsy, and a bit squeaky upon opening. They are doors, but they offer little security, mainly protection from unwanted bugs. They offer a connection to the rest of the world and a cool breeze, while filtering out flies on a hot day.

Looking through a screen door, the outside world is present, but obscured by mesh lines. Our perception is obscured and interpreted personally.

These drawings are a representation of this feeling. Slightly obscured surreal images created from cross hatching, to be interpreted how you would like.

In this collection of pen and ink drawings, I took influences from nature in the Shenandoah Valley, combined with surreal imagery and ordinary items.
