Taproom Manager

Taproom Manager Job Overview

The taproom manager is a proactive self-starter who anticipates team, taproom, and customer needs and acts and delegates to meet them. They will direct and oversee the daily operations of the taproom, ensuring regulatory compliance, a safe and supportive environment, and a positive and efficient workplace.

The Taproom Manager is responsible for the following:
  • Manage day-to-day activities for taproom operations.

  • Provide direct supervision and work closely with the taproom team. Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish goals and objectives; train, supervise, and evaluate staff. Motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

  • Set the schedule for taproom employees.

  • Implement point of sales software and taproom inventory management system.

  • Credit card/cash handling and deposits

  • Monitor and enforce performance standards to ensure high-levels of service, quality and customer satisfaction. Interact with customers and vendors to develop and maintain a favorable public image.

  • Helps in personnel management with interviewing, hiring, training, and firing employees.

  • Manage and assist with the planning of special events and team building opportunities in tandem with the owners.

  • Pursue & organize special events for the taproom, creating and maintaining relationships with local food establishments.

  • Step in as bartender and/or cider educator as needed.

Personal & Professional Qualifications Include:
  • Available to work full-time (40 hrs/week), including nights and weekends

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the craft beverage/wine industry

    • Knowledge of craft cider and the cider production process preferred (Cider certification preferred or willingness to work toward this certification)

  • Exceptional skills in leadership, communication, organization, attention to detail, and customer service

  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a diverse set of people​

  • Basic familiarity with tablet-based POS systems and Google office platforms like Docs and Sheets

  • Aptitude for and desire to learn the mechanical workings of taproom equipment and some production equipment in order to address problems quickly and efficiently

  • Experience with financial reports: Easily navigate numbers to understand how to staff to optimize labor costs, analyze performance metrics, and handle cash & credit tip allocation.

  • Understand the technology used to craft managerial reports, manage the POS, and optimize inventory tracking, while also maintaining an interest in new technology to improve operations.

 

Education & Experience:
  • Must be 21+ years old

  • High School Degree or GED required

  • At least 2 years related supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have reliable transportation

    • own vehicle, valid Driver's License, current insurance coverage and clean driving record.

  • Current TIPS or Alcohol Awareness Training
     

Working Conditions:
  • This position requires an individual who works under a range of circumstances, including: shift work, weekend work, working with challenging patrons, working in the fast-paced environment of a crowded taproom, and working within close proximity of an operating cidery (noise, heavy equipment, odors related to the production process).

 

Physical Requirements:
  • The taproom manager will likely be required to stand for extended periods of time.

  • May be required to lift up to 60 lbs to move kegs and/or boxes with the help of a hand truck.

 

Compensation:
  • PTO: 10 paid vacation days
